A fine quality mid-19th century well figured mahogany kidney shaped pedestal desk, having moulded edge gilt tooled leather top, above graduated drawers flanked by reeded and paneled columns with carved paterae, supported on short square tapering legs, ending on original brass box castors.
 
Pedestal desks come in all sizes.  What is particularly attractive about this example is that it is Kidney-shaped, which makes it a little more unusual.  There are so many details reverting back to the 18th century, carved paterae, fluted panels and blind panels.  The desk is finished on all sides, so it would look amazing in the centre of a study or library.
