An attractive mid-18th century figured mahogany display bookcase with gilt gesso mouldings throughout having dentil moulded cornice above shaped glazed doors and panelled cupboard doors below, enclosing drawers with original swan-neck handles. The Bookcase, now with silk lining and glass shelves, raised on plinth base.
This fine display cabinet was originally retailed by a dealer named Arthur Edwards, who was established in the mid 1920's in Wigmore Street at the Stratford Galleries. It must have been a large etsablishment as the advertuisment mentions twenty rooms of fine 18th century English furniture and works of art.
